History of Artemide

History of Artemide
So after a long break I find the time to post again here.

Since I am so mainly dedicate the lighting by Artemide, I would like to briefly outline the history of Artemide shortly.

Artemide was founded in 1960. The founding fathers of the lighting manufacturer from Italy were Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza. The first light that you designed, produced and marketed was the Artemide Alfa. The Alfa lamp has remained unchanged in the program at Artemide. A great thing, so you can trace the history of the company completely.

The second lamp by Artemide, the Polluce floor lamp is, to my knowledge no longer available. A pity, today would probably Polluce under Retro - Design and would fall accordingly successfully.

Really successful this was the light in 1967, the Artemide Eclisse. Two years after the foundation was able to clear the Artemide Eclisse the Compasso d'Oro award. One of the highest awards ever for lighting and other industrial lighting design.

Then relatively neglected but historically one of the most important lighting by Artemide at all: The Tizio. I have the Tizio yes here already a small article dedicated. Then the light went completely under, unfortunately, the time just was not ripe for halogen bulbs. Today, she is there, and the Tizio enjoys undiminished enthusiasm and Richard Sapper, the designer of the Tizio is showered with honors.

In my next post I will tell the story of Artemide from 1980 to present in some detail, but passed many exciting things.
